Palo Santo
In the wilds of Central and South America grows a tree sacred to the indigenous peoples of that region, including the Inca, which is known by some as the "third eye wood". This wood only gifts it's beneficial properties to those who practice respect and patience, allowing the tree to live out it's natural life cycle, die and fall in its own time, and lay undisturbed in the forest for a period of at least three years, before harvesting and using the wood for ritual purposes & medicine. Called "Palo Santo" by the Spanish colonialists, the oil of this wood carries properties which are relaxing, purifying, cleansing, and are believed to offer protection to practitioners. Palo Santo is commonly cut into small sticks, like kindling, and burned as incense, smudge, or purifying smoke. The oil can also be pressed from the wood and applied as an unguent.
Hawks, raptors which have many species living throughout the Americas, are known for their ability to see far and strike their prey from above. Many cultures throughout the world ascribe to hawk the symbolism of being spiritual messengers.

Leeks
The world gets crazy as a March hare sometimes, with a wild wind kicking up trouble. Leeks bring us protection against many of life’s slings and arrows. Like most plants in the allium family, leeks provide natural properties for fighting off infection. Perhaps this was the inspiration for Welsh soldiers wearing leeks into battle for protection: when we have been wounded to the heart, we can call on leek to help carry us through.
